The chances of Owen Hargreaves appearing in a Manchester United shirt anytime soon appear to be receding.
Hargreaves has only played 25 times for United since his £17 million move from Bayern Munich back in 2007. His last game was the 1-1 draw with Chelsea on 21 September 2008.
He had hoped to be back by the end of this September after operations on both knees to cure tendinitis. He’s currently in the USA being treated by renowned knee surgeon Dr Richard Steadman and has missed out on United’s trip to Germany for the Audi Cup.
Sir Alex Ferguson said:
We had hoped he would be joining us but he is still in rehabilitation.
He has had major operations on both knees and we are not rushing that.
