LA Galaxy striker Landon Donovan is in talks that could see him move from the USA to Everton.

The Merseyside club is hoping to structure a loan deal similar to that of Donovan’s LA team mate David Beckham who will be playing for AC Milan in the new year.

Everton’s injury ravaged squad could certainly do with a player of Donovan’s quality – the 27 year old has already had spells in Europe with Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich and is the USA’s all-time leading goal scorer with 42 goals from 120 appearances.

The move could also please Nike as Donovan is one of their leading ambassadors in the States and a move to Everton is bound to create even more exposure ‘back home’ for their Mercurial range.

Everton chief executive Robert Elstone said:

everton confirm donovan interest He is a player that manager David Moyes has identified as someone he would like to bring to the club.

We are working to make that happen and hope we can reach agreement soon with all the appropriate parties.

Wonder if the LA “fans” gonna raise hell because of this like they did when Beckham left? Also wonder if Grant Wahl is gonna write a book about this too?

Nah the big deal about Beckham was that he was going to miss some of the MLS season. They were more than happy to let Donovan go to Bayern Munich last winter.
