CITY EDGE UNITED IN FIRST LEG SHOW DOWN

Manchester United’s Gary Neville could be in trouble with the FA after he was involved in an ugly scene with Carlos Tevez during the Carling Cup semi final first leg against Manchester City at Eastlands.

Tevez was City’s two-goal hero as City came from behind to beat United 2 – 1.

It was after the Argentinean’s first goal, levelling a strike from Ryan Giggs, that the incident occurred.'  Tevez celebrated his strike with a gesture that appeared to hit back at comments from the United skipper, who claimed this week that the club had been right to sell Tevez to their rivals.

Neville, who was warming up on the touchline, flashed back an offensive one-fingered response which could land him in hot water with the authorities.

Tevez went on to win the tie with a second goal, a close range header, in the second half though City were grateful to goalkeeper Shay Given for two first class saves and to substitute Nedum Onuoha who cleared off the line from Michael Owen.

The second leg of the tie takes place at Old Trafford on Wednesday 27th January.
