Unhappy at being made to play two Premier League games in 72 hours, Chelsea have announced that they will give fans free tickets to the rescheduled TV match against Everton at Goodison Park.
Chelsea say the change, from Saturday 19th to Thursday 17th April, “undermines the sporting integrity of the competition”, as they also host Wigan on 14th April.
In a statement, Chelsea said;
We’ve continued to make very strong representations for the date of the Everton away game to be changed. This now seems unlikely.
Under these circumstances Chelsea believes it would be inappropriate to profit from the television fee for this match as per normal.
Chelsea, who have been given a 2,900 seat allocation for the Everton match, will use the TV money to pay for the tickets and also plan to pay for train or bus tickets to get supporters to and from the game. Fans who had already bought tickets will get a refund.
