Arsene Wenger has branded his team absolutely amazing, despite finishing the season without any silverware.
Arsenal may not have won anything again this season, but their manager Arsene Wenger has still heaped praise on his side.
In a week that has seen Arsenal dumped out of the Champions League by Liverpool, after being ahead in the game, and then had their slim title hopes dashed by Manchester United, after being ahead in the game, the Arsenal manager will still not concede that there is a problem with Arsenal.
Just two months ago, Arsenal were riding high at the top of the Premier League with a five point lead, after yesterday’s result they now trail United by nine points.
Whilst Arsenal play entertaining football, with technical ability and flair, they seem to miss the killer instinct which United and Chelsea have in abundance. In both of Arsenal’s defeats this week, they have controlled large portions of the games, creating chances with their free flowing passing game, but they could not manage to maintain leads and shut down a game when they are ahead.
Despite obvious issues, Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on his failing team.
Arsene Wenger:
I feel the difference between success and failure is very little. We do not feel there is much between ourselves, United and Chelsea when it comes to technical ability and quality. So it is difficult to accept we will not win the title.
I want to win trophies and it is sad we cannot win a trophy this season. On the other hand I feel we have done a lot for the Premier League this season by the way we have promoted it.
We will continue to play the way we do, but better. Then the trophies will come. At the moment our confidence has dropped a little bit. When you get knock after knock it is difficult to take.
My main target is to keep the team together because they are absolutely amazing.
Overall I am very proud of my team’s performance today. We had to be exceptionally strong after the Liverpool game and we were.
Arsenal were good against liverpool(champions league) until Liverpool got their goal and started to play a lot better and get more confidence. Arsene Wenger claims his team are amazing but the thing is they cant keep a lead. Arsenal have one world class player in Cesc Fabregas. Liverpool have a better squad than Arsenal and deserved the win against them. Arsenal are a fantastic team but dont have enough fire power in them to win the league.
I think Arsenal lack firepower and defensive cover.
Adebayor has looked like he did when he first joined Arsenal lately and Van Persie is not sharp after his injuries. However, with Hleb playing second striker to Adebayor, Van Persie is isolated and Hleb doesn’t score often enough.
At the back Arsenal need some decent backup, or competition to their four of Sagna, Gallas, Toure and Clichy. Whilst these four are good, anyone missing from that quartet seems to make the whole defence vulnerable.
