Aston Villa have revealed that they have today, rejected a bid from Manchester City for Midfielder James Milner.
Manchester City have made no secret of their intentions to attract the England international to Eastlands, and signaled the seriousness of their offer with a £20m offer.
Villa, however, have turned down the offer; A Villa spokesman said: “We have received an offer from Manchester City for James Milner and this has been firmly rejected. In a sensible move from the Birmingham Club, they went on to say; “We plan to sit down with James and his representative after the World Cup to agree a new long-term deal and this remains our position.”
Milner has enjoyed his best-ever season for both club and country – claiming the PFA Young Player of the year award, and working his way into Fabio Capello’s provisional England squad.
Capello has even gone as far as to say that the Nike CTR360 Maestri wearer is “The Future of English Football”.
