Whilst Mexico stole the show with Olympic gold this weekend, Neymar’s Nike GS have been the centre of attention throughout London 2012.
Worn by the tricky Brazilian teen at some of the UK’s most iconic football stadiums, including Old Trafford and St James’s Park, is the lightest, fastest, most environmentally-friendly production boot the company has ever made.
Constructed using renewable and recycled materials, the boot is designer for explosive performance on the pitch and lower impact on the planet. Every component has been optimized to reduce weight and waste, and as a result the boot weighs in at 160 grams.
In this video, both Neymar and Nike Football footwear maestro Andy Caine talk us through the Nike GS, and what it represents to them as both an elite player and designer.
Missed out on the pre-orders? An extremely limited number of Nike GS boots have been produced and only 2,012 pairs went on sale worldwide. The last few boots remain for sale, and they are going to hit retail in the UK on Thursday 16th August. Retailing at £250, the Nike GS will be available on a first come first served basis from Nike Town London and the Nike Football Store in Manchester.
