Under Armour HeatGear is a range of lightweight sports apparel for use when it’s hot.
In the first in this UA Tech Series we breakdown the tech used in CoolSwitch.
As winter approaches, you might question why we’re featuring a product that helps keep you cool, but hold fire there is method to our madness. When the nights draw in, more of us turn to indoor courts for their football fix and we’re no different. No matter what time of year it is, indoor football has one constant – it gets hot. Which is where the Under Armour HeatGear comes in….
Under Armour
Under Armour is renowned for its base layers and for good reason. The company was originally founded in 1996 by an American football player who was fed up with sweat soaked cotton undershirts weighing him down whilst playing. So he created Under Armour and moisture wicking undershirts.
The brand has had a meteoric rise since its inception, even eclipsing adidas last year for US sportswear sales.
Whilst UA now have a wide range of products, including football boots, they still excel in the base layer category.
Under Armour HeatGear
The UA HeatGear collection of lightweight sportswear keep you cool and dry in hot conditions.
Tech Spec
- Mesh HeatGear fabric, with all the bene!ts of UA Compression, delivers total ventilation
- 4-way 130g stretch fabrication allows greater mobility in any direction, and maintains shape
- Moisture Transport System wicks sweat away from the body
- Anti-odour technology prevents the growth of odor-causing microbes
HeatGear wicks sweat away from your body and filters it through the lightweight fabric where it can evaporate. The material is highly breathable and quick drying, helping to eliminate carrying sweat soaked clothing around.
Sweat can also exacerbate the smell from your body. UA HeatGear also helps tackle that using Odour Control Technology which proactively prevents odor causing microbes from growing. A major plus when there are 10 grown men running around a hot football court.
Many of the HeatGear base layers feature UA Compression, the purpose of the compression is that it is tight fitting, like a second skin and helps regulate your body temperature and reduces the buildup of lactic acid.
Summary
We’re huge fans of Under Armour’s sportswear. Not only is the quality high, it is very functional and looks great too.
Their compression gear continues to lead the baselayer market and we’re always looking for excuses to pull on an Under Armour garment.
