First launched in May 2015, the Umbro UX was dubbed a technical monster, well now that monster has been updated, conveniently in time to get into it for the new season.

There’s nothing we like more than a boot with loads of technology features and that’s what you get with the new Umbro UX-2.
The UX-2 upper is made from a single-piece of thin light, breathable material. Unlike speed boots, it has a softness to aide your touch to get that ball under control. Also on the vamp of the boot is a 3D printed touch control zone for maximum grip and control.
Don’t mistake the thin light material as an indicator that this is a delicate boot, it’s not. It will take a tackle when you’re in the heat of a game when you need to rely on your footwear.
The support is their thanks to the renowned Umbro A-Frame, locking your foot down and giving you stability and the dual density heel counter with integrated flex spine will cushion the heel and safeguard your achilles.
Flipping the UX-2 over and the stud configuration is retained from the first incarnation with conical studs, including four on the heel and ten on the forefront for great traction, increased comfort and quick changes in direction.
It’s commonplace to categorise boots into player types nowadays, the UX-2 sits in the ‘control the game’ role. A very capable shoe which offers a good all round suite of features.
We’re looking forward to trying out the UX-2 and see how much it has developed beyond the original version.
