Umbro UX-1 Concept - Black / White / Buttercup

If the colourways that you’ve seen grace the UX-1 Concept football boots have been a little too lightweight for your tastes, then you might well appreciate this more hard-hitting Black / White / Buttercup colourway.

Despite ‘Buttercup’ not being one of the more aggressive colourway names we’ve ever heard, there’s no denying the venomous look of this latest Umbro drop.

Umbro UX-1 Concept - Black / White / Buttercup - Instep

The now-signature ArmourTex upper of the UX-1 is all black, punctuated with white dots that line the textile.

If you’ve not read our review of the UX-1, you might not know that the material Umbro have used on the upper not only feels flexible to the touch, but is actually as strong as Kevlar when it comes to dispersing impact.

And protection is one of the bywords of the Umbro UX-1. The heel counter is dual-density, with a spinal achilles protector that boosts comfort, but prevents direct impact to this weeker part of the foot.

The Double Diamon have also worked in a number of game-enhancing augmentations across the upper of the UX-1.

The most notable is the touch compound webbing; a strong rubberised element fused to the front and laces of the boot, helping enhance ball feel and control.

Wrapped around the instep and rear quarter is the A-Frame. A staple of Umbro boots since 2008, the A-Frame is given new life on the UX-1 Concept.

Umbro UX-1 Concept - Black / White / Buttercup - Soleplate

Not only does it work with the lacing system to pull the upper and soleplate closer to the foot, but it also pinches the material into a pass-pad on the instep of the boot to aid in ball contact.
