Probably one of the most visually divisive football boots out there at the moment, we can’t imagine the Umbro GeoFLARE II will take many more people from either side of the fence with it’s latest Blue Camo colourway.
Despite best being known for their traditionally-styled football boots and ‘Tailored by’ approach to kits, the GeoFLARE II is Umbro‘s boldest statement boot today, and was never meant to please everyone.
Not all brands are bold enough to have their logo take over the entire flank of a boot, but Umbro brought that in on the GeoFLARE II, creating a striking visual effect.
And that’s not to mention the camo-pattern used for the entire upper. Here in ‘Scuba Blue’ we’ve got to say this is a particularly fun take on the camo theme, played off nicely against the Lime Green soleplate and Obsidian call-outs.
But despite the deliberately brazen whole, it’s the little details on the Umbro GeoFLARE II that win us over. From the matching camo laces to the high-friction finish styled after Umbro’s England kits in the early 90’s, Umbro don’t forget to sweat over the small stuff.
Performance wise, the Umbro GeoFLARE II – Blue Camo is a speed football boot that doesn’t forget that fast players need a high level of control in their game, too.
A super-soft Teijin synthetic upper trims the grammes off the weight, whilst that high-friction finish we mentioned earlier provides the control.
The soleplate uses an all-bladed config that’s great for aggressive traction, with a forefoot groove for low-resistance toe-off (it’s faster and easier to launch into a sprint, in other words).
Not only that, Umbro have also used a glass fibre insert to help with energy return, allowing the GeoFLARE II to return quickly back into it’s original position, ready for the next stride.

You gotta let us know in the comments…
I like it. the colorway is wild, but still much more pleasing to the eye than the atrocious adidas samba models. that soleplate seems very interesting, lots of blades – wonder how they perform.
