Wayne Rooney has escaped a Uefa ban and will be free to participate in the next stage of the Champions League.
Uefa officials had been studying video tape of Rooney’s clash with Aalborg’s Kasper Risgard who accused the England international of deliberately stamping on his chest during the 2 – 2 draw at Old Trafford last week.
Referee Laurent Duhamel didn’t see the incident so Europe’s governing body decided to study TV footage to see if any action was warranted. If found guilty, Rooney would have faced a 3 match ban.
However, Uefa says it won’t take any action against the United forward who will be available for selection when the Champions League resumes next year.
