Fernando Torres says the Liverpool players are responsible for the club’s current woes and not manager Rafael Benitez.
Liverpool have already been knocked out of the Champions League this season and are suffering in the Premier League with just 3 wins from their last 12 games.
Off the field too there are problems with American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks reportedly looking for new investment.
But Torres, who like Benitez signed a long term contract last season, doesn’t think that getting rid of the manager is the answer saying:
I think sacking the manager is not a solution.
We have to play much better. The players are the people that have to find a solution to the situation.
It’s a difficult situation but every top team in the world goes sometimes through a bad situation like Liverpool now.
Obviously we need players. If we can bring quality players it should be really positive for us.
But I think the situation is really difficult because I think we don’t have money to bring in the best players.
