It’s been 6 long months for Nike’s ‘The Chance’ contestants. From those who campaigned so hard on Facebook, to those who fell short at the regional heats, and now the last men standing.

From every corner of the world Nike have gathered the final 100 – of which 92 of the best Amateur footballers in the world will be eliminated and eight will enter the Nike Academy program.

To give the remaining British players an edge over their international competition Rio Ferdinand has stepped in to help toughen up the four UK finalists ahead of The Chance world finals to be held in London from 19th Ĺ› 22nd January.

Rio enlisted the help of James Milner, Adam Johnson, Ashley Cole and Aaron Lennon to help mentor the four UK hopefuls.

James Milner and Adam Johnson took the two midfield hopefuls on a crash course of making the most of space in midfield, including leading your marker, disguising your touch and getting your head up – even if you’re not a Manchester City fans, the boys definitely have some great tips for anyone who’s finding the midfield a little crowded!

Next, first-choice Chelsea and England left-back took the sole defender Pete on a masterclass of quick passing and stopping wingers in their tracks.

Required viewing for any defender, this film makes you realise how aware Cole is when he’s tracking a man with the ball – pointing out that the best time to strike with a tackle is when the attackers head goes down to knock it past you; so keep an eye on the players whole body, don’t just look at the ball or your man’s feet!

The Chance final is happening this week, and with expert training from such top players, we’re hopeful that there’s going to be some UK representation in that final 8!

Make sure you get behind the British finalists and follow our UK players progress at the finals visit

Have you been following the Chance on Nike’s Facebok page? Has anyone caught your eye?
