Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson will take charge of The Ivory Coast to this summer’s World Cup finals after being named as their new coach.
He takes on yet another managerial role after Vahid Halilhodzic was sacked after a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in January.
It will be no walk in the park for Eriksson, The Ivory Coast are placed in the world cup group G with heavyweights Brazil, Portugal and North Korea. However, he will be aware that the Ivory Coast possesses a strong squad including Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Emmanuel Eboue, Arthur Boka, Didier Zokora and Yaya and Kolo Toure, plus a host of other players playing at a high level in Europe.
