Former Spurs, Arsenal and England central defender Sol Campbell is set to leave Portsmouth this summer.
Portsmouth have confirmed that Sol Campbell will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of this season.
The 33-year-old central defender may play for the last time in Portsmouth colours during the FA Cup final against Cardiff at Wembley later this month.
Sol Campbell joined Portsmouth on a free transfer in August 2007, after he parted company from Arsenal in the July.
Manager Harry Redknapp has already got his sights on a replacement, he is targeting Brazilian centre half Luisao of Benfica.
Gary Double, Portsmouth’s director of communications:
The assessment of Luisao is very good
Campbell will leave and Luisao is Redknapp’s preference for the defence.
We have already spoken to Benfica and they have set the fee at £12million as a starting point for negotiations.
