New kit photo shoots are often great places to sneak a look at upcoming football boots.
As brands like adidas and Nike gear up for the season ahead, they’ll often have their most popular players wear upcoming colourways and models, so the pictures they take at the photo-call remain relevant for as long as possible.
But this year’s been a bit thin on the ground to say the least! Despite kit launches from Chelsea and Liverpool, we’ve not had a single new pair of football boots to talk about!
That is, until yesterday’s Bayern Munich kit launch…
Eagle-eyed Footy-Boots.com reader Will F got in touch after doing some CSI-style zooming-and-enhancing on all the football boots of the players involved and came across a really interesting discovery:
Perennial adidas-guinea-pig Bastian Schweinsteiger appeared to be wearing a new model of adidas football boots (presumably the adidas adiPure V) disguised as the current White/Black/Blue Splash adiPure IV!
We know that the Bayern man has been testing an unidentified pair of football boots for adidas over the past four weeks after seeing Schweinsteiger trialling a pair of white-out cleats whilst on international duty with Germany.
We’d have to guess that this is the same model of boot, only having received a lick of paint to disguise it from boot-spotting eyes. Ironically, it’s these distinctive colourings that make the details on these football boots easier to identify!
From what we can tell, a slightly-more side offset lacing system, larger tongue and revamped forefoot stitching seem to be the order of the day, along with a slightly more modern and sleek feel compared to the current adiPure IV.
Given the shape and layout of the studs pictured, it wouldn’t be too bigger leap of the imagination to suggest that these are the same mystery boots that Schweinsteiger baffled even hardened boot-spotters with earlier this month, which feature a very distinctive sole-plate pattern and unusual stud configuration.
So, do you think this is our first detailed look at the adiPure V? Or are they a new silo of football boots from adidas altogether?
Let us know in the comments!
I’m thinking it’s an answer to the Nike CTR 360
definitely just a new AdiPure, the AdiTouch (as I am calling them if there ever will be such a thing) will be altogether different, there would be no point in having a boot that apparently does something different to an AdiPure, but then painting it to look like an AdiPure!
the stripes dont touch the lacing, wierd.
Looks good, but am i the only one who think that 2 new models per season is a tad too much?
I think it’s only a second version of the adipure iv, just like the adizero and the prime.
Could just be prototype adipure iv’s or SL’s that bastion was testing for adidas and happened to grow a liken to them so adidas could have just reproduced them just for him. Like how messi has the only leather gold adizero’s. You know just a one player specific boot. Just for that player and no one else. Or like ipodkiller said, could just be the second adipure version
