Young Player of the Year
The young player of the year award was won by Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas. At 20 years old, the young midfielder is the first Spaniard to have won the trophy.
He beat off challenges from Fernando Torres, Cristiano Ronaldo, Micah Richards, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ashley Young.
Of course I am very proud because this is a very prestigious trophy – football is a collective game, and you always prefer to win trophies, but I’m very honoured to receive this award.
