Champions League knock-out ties are often heated affairs on their own, but we fans love a bit of spice in the run up to the tie.
An unlikely source for any sort of trash-talk is French ace Franck Ribery, however, in an interview with British tabloid the Sun Ribery noted that the England Striker “Is carrying the United team this season.”
As well as conceding that his Bayern teammates will have to “Pay great attention to him”, the Superfly II wearer admitted that he thinks “Rooney is having a tremendous season and I am happy for him. He’s a player I like a lot.
“He’s hungry. He gives everything for his team. He will tackle, he defends, he attacks, he scores goals. He’s full of confidence.”
Which is high praise indeed for his fellow Nike-stablemate, especially when you consider Ribery has allegedly been the subject of several bids from Manchester United.

Franck Ribery also went on to acknowledge Bayern’s role as the underdog in this tie (despite no English team having won away to Bayern since Norwich in 93/94!) “The whole world sees us losing but I think we have a great chance. We have a team good enough to believe in.”
What do think – does Ribery have a point? Are United relying too much on Rooney?
