Cristiano RonaldoReal Madrid have scotched rumours that they will target Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo as their main close season signing.

Ronaldo, who is contracted to the Old Trafford club until 2012, has scored 41 goals this season, as United won the Premier League and reached Wednesday’s Champions League final against Chelsea in Moscow.

The Portuguese international said recently that he would like to play in Spain at some point in his career.

But the Madrid manager Bernd Schuster, whose side were presented with La Liga trophy on Sunday said:

Cristiano RonaldoI would like to have a lot of players, but I don’t think it is possible that Cristiano Ronaldo will be with us.

I don’t waste time on these things. I think about who could come and not on speculation.

We are going to look at what we need and then see.

Madrid loves to stack their team. I think Ronaldo should stay with Man U not only because I like the team but the EPL is arguably the best league out there and that is where he was named the best player in the world last season. — obviously people will disagree–
