After one of our favourite shirts of Euro 2012, Puma are back with an update to the famous Azzurri as they unveil the Italy Home Shirt for the 2013 Confederations Cup.
Specially designed for the heat of Brasil – the hosts of this summer’s most glamorous international tournament – Puma have launched the Italy Home Shirt 2013 with the tagline ‘Bred in Italy and Made for Brasil’.
As adidas did with Spain’s shirt four years ago, Puma are making no bones about the fact that this shirt has a limited shelf, and will be worn almost exclusively at the Confederations Cup – ‘unifying the Azzurri as their prepare for their 5th star pursuit the following year’.
Whilst last year’s edition was a loving homage to a favourite kit form Italy’s glorious footballing past, the Italy Home Shirt 2013 is designed with a more futuristic aesthetic in mind.
Complimenting the traditional blue, the new kit features a bold neon blue piping throughout the trim, and the coloured sleeve cuffs offer up a stylish tribute to the Italian flag.
One of the key design points is the uniquely designed shoulders and sleeves. Pushing up towards the collar, the Italy Home Shirt 2013 allows a more natural movement of the arms – which Puma say is perfect for embracing team-mates and lifting trophies, as needed.
On a technical level, the official team shirt is made of recycled polyester and Cocona (an activated carbon made from coconut shells) to provide a superior level of comfort and moisture management, whilst the replica (i.e. the one you can buy in the shops) will be a slightly-less glam 100% recycled polyester.
On sale April 1st, the Italy Home Shirt for the 2013 Confederations Cup will make a fitting debut as Italy play a glamour tie with Brasil in Geneva this Thursday.
Are Puma on to a winner with the Italy Home Shirt for the 2013 Confederations Cup?
Let us know in the comments!
New Rangers shirt anyone?
looks great, though different colored sleeves arent my cup of tea. sucks that they will only wear it to cash in on the confederations cup. and related to the earlier comment, rangers is still Umbro, or?
Right now, yep – but next season Puma will be taking the reigns. Presumably Nike didn’t want to take this deal from Umbro as the Swoosh is already on the Celtic shirts.
Also, they’ll have a new sponsor – Blackthorn cider will take the place of Tennants; switching one classy alcoholic beverage for another.
