Burnley 1-0 Man Utd

Alex Ferguson felt his Manchester United side should have done more to avoid losing 1-0 against Burnley at Turf Moor.

Robbie Blake scored the winner for new boys Burnley in the 19th minute with a superb volley . Burnley managed to hold on despite conceding a penalty just before half time.

Burnley’s keeper Brian Jensen made a great save to prevent Michael Carrick’s penalty kick going in.

Hull 1-5 Spurs

Spurs are on a high, after beating Liverpool at the weekend, they followed up with a crushing victory over Hull City, away from home.

Hero of the night was on form Jermain Defoe who netted a hat-trick and the result puts Tottenham top of the league.

Liverpool 4-0 Stoke

The Liverpool team managed to put aside the pre-game speculation regarding Rafa Benitez’s future.

Bouncing back from defeat to Spurs in their opener, they recorded a comfortable 4-0 triumph over Stoke.

Fernando Torres, Glen Johnson, Dirk Kuyt and David Ngog scored the goals.

Birmingham 1-0 PortsmouthBirmingham secured the points thanks to a last minute penalty decision that Portsmouth manager Paul Hart was not happy about.

James McFadden was the man who stepped up to beat England number 1 David James from the spot and claimed 3 vital points for the Blues.
