As the prey evolves; so must the Predator – as the game changes, so must the football boots.
Such is the driving force behind the adidas Predator line. Once about control and bend, then about power and swerve, then about accuracy and now back to control once again, football fads come and go, but the Predator name perceivers over two decades.
Over fourteen incarnations, the adidas Predator has changed the way football boots are designed and marketed, turning the marketplace from a bland, amorphous black leather blob into an industry whose innovations influence everything from running shoes to basketball sneakers.
As the adidas Predator Instinct launches, adidas are keen to look back over past iterations to show just how far the boot has come, and the defining moments it has been a part of.
Rapier, Touch, Accelerator, Mania – all one-word names that evoke powerful memories when combined with the ‘Predator’ moniker, associated with legends like Zidane, Ballack, Beckham, Gascoigne.
This latest video from adidas aims to bring back a few of those memories as each of those iconic boots line the walls of a natural history museum, along with the Predatory animals that inspire it’s design.
