Peter Crouch took to an unfamiliar pitch this week as part of the Mars ‘Just Play initiative, turning out in Red & black for Carperby in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
In a bid to get more people playing the beautiful game, Mars are addressing the number one complaint people have when it comes to amateur football: The facilities.
Working with the FA’s National Strategy, Mars are ploughing more than £200 million into getting the nation playing it’s favourite game – and the latest recipient of this investment is a new sports pavilion and 5-a-side pitch at the relatively remote Carperby in Yorkshire.
Given the nature of Carperby’s location (seriously, Google Map it, it’s pretty ‘in the sticks’) it often gets overlooked by other initiatives and it’s small population can’t maintain it to the standard they’d like.
So, just for the day, Carperby edged closer to ‘World Class’ as Peter Crouch came to open the new facilities and join the local teams in a game!
The video itself is a slight-behind-the-scenes look at the day with Crouchy himself, meeting some of the locals and a highlight reel of some of the best moments in the 11-a-side match.
Expect the full advert to be heading to Youtube and a television near you very soon, but for now you’ll have bragging rights from seeing this vid first!
Hats off to Mars for putting money into something that’ll really make a difference to a community – we sincerely hope we get to report on another story like this soon!
Crouch seems like such a genuine, nice man. Look at him jumping on that guy’s back at the end. Go Crouch go!
Nice vid, like @OnlyFootball says, Crouchie comes over like a nice guy.
