Football meets fashion in this new collection by Olivier Rousteing and Nike.
Olivier Rousteing is a French fashion designer, famous for his Instagram exploits, friendship with the Karshadians and most recently the H&M collaboration project which sold out in next to no time.
Rousteing has now turned his attention to football, working with Nike to create the Football Nouveau collection.
Soft ground boots and football shirts you won’t find in this collection, however Rousteing wants to change the way football fashion is thought of. He explains:
Fashion is usually about the catwalk and the glamour, but with Nike it was about performance and the athletes. What I love about this collection is that we are integrating the iconic style of football into sport style.
The collection which addresses both men and women aims to meet off-pitch performance while pushing the sport’s aesthetic forward. Iconic football designs are reimagined through modern silhouettes and paired with luxury finishes, including touches of gold, the colour of champions.
We were delighted to see the collection includes footwear. Rousteing has worked on Nike Football’s four silos: Mercurial, Magista, Hypervenom and Tiempo.
NIKELAB FOOTSCAPE MAGISTA X OR – Designed for unstoppable playmaking with flyknit and gold embroidered detail. Loud but extremely comfortable with fully moulded sole.
NIKELAB FREE MERCURIAL FLYKNIT X OR – Features a Flyknit upper for a sock-like fit and a Nike Free outsole for flexible comfort. The Flyknit upper is detailed with metallic gold embroidery, while the heel features a metallic gold zipper. The leather pull-tab and metallic gold aglets add an element of luxury.
NIKELAB FREE HYPERVENOM 2 X OR – Nike’s most agile football boot is reinterpreted for the street. The upper is embellished with metallic gold and high-gloss film for a luxurious finish. A gold embroidered patch on the sockliner ties to the apparel collection. The flexible Nike Free outsole helps enable the wearer’s natural motion.
NIKELAB ROSHE TIEMPO VI X OR – The Tiempo VI blends the upper of the classic football boot with the lightweight and comfortable Nike Roshe outsole. Metallic gold accents and a metallic gold badge on the heel connect back to the apparel collection. The leather upper and asymmetric tongue nod to the performance boot.
