All of a sudden the old timer of the Nike football boot family, the Tiempo Legend IV certainly shows no signs of it’s age with a fresh-looking Light Bone / Volt / Blue colourway for the summer.
Whilst a popular colour on it’s chukkas and sneakers, this is the first time we can think of that Nike have brought their ‘Light Bone’ hue to a pair of football boots (that we can think of!), teaming it with the ubiquitous volt (that has slowly infiltrated nearly all of Nike’s boots) and fresh blue for a truly unique look.
With the launch of the Hypervenom signalling the arrival of a ‘new breed of attack’, this summer could be a potentially exciting one for the Tiempo Legend silo.
Previously the boot of choice for tricky midfielders like Ronaldinho and Joe Cole in his pomp, Nike have re-envisioned their classically-inspired boot as the #1 choice for defenders over the past few seasons.
Spain and Barcelona centre-back duo Gerard Pique and Carlos Puyol have become the headline names to wear the Tiempo Legend IV – and whilst Andrea Pirlo and Javier Hernandez still rep them further up the pitch – it’s mostly defenders like Ashley Cole, Sergio Ramos and Jolean Lescott who wear them week-in, week-out.
And with the Hypervenom very much an attacker’s boot, will we see T90 Laser wearing defenders like Rio Ferdinand and Johnny Evans make the switch to Tiempo for next season?
But if they do make the switch, rest assured they’ll be moving into a fantastic boot. The only boot left in Nike’s range to employ natural K-Leather, the forefoot and instep of the Tiempo Legend IV is the perfect area to control and get a feel for the ball at your feet.
A specially-crafted forward vamp on the Legend IV uses clever use of stitching to avoid over-stretching whilst still offering a natural, quilted surface to control the ball.
