We loved the first episode of Nike’s enthralling England Matters series; everything from the behind-the-scenes insights with the players to the slow-motion pitch-side highlights got us hyped up to see some international football.
After focusing on the contrasting fortunes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Daniel Sturridge last time out, it’s Tom Cleverly and Danny Welbeck’s turn for some time in front of the cameras as they reflect on the squad’s time in Brasil and the friendly against Scotland.

Teammates since the age of 12, Welbeck and Cleverley have progressed through the ranks with both club and country, and in this episode, they discuss their close bond on and off the pitch, their aspirations and how it feels to be a part of the England squad.
Two of the most divisive members of both their club and country set-ups, both have hit the ground running this season, with Welbeck in a good vein of scoring form and Cleverly laying off an inch-perfect ball for Walcott’s goal against Scotland.
Here’s hoping this latest video from Nike gets the country behind them ahead of these crucial World Cup qualifiers.
These pseudoheroic movies suck. We want to see a title. The last one was 1966(!). Please stop this rubbish commercial Nike.
