Nike launch Atletico Madrid’s third kit for the 2019/20 season
Atletico’s third shirt reappears with light blue shade worn during the club’s glorious decadal season and also featuring Nike’s ’90s theme.
“Given the 1990s theme of the kit, light blue was the fitting choice,” said Pete Hoppins, Nike Football Apparel Senior Design Director. “I hope the fans enjoy its return this season.”
The new third shirt has a squared-off collar which stands out thanks to an elevated trim with seven stars from Madrid’s coat of arms – printed across the neckline. The shirt has the club’s nickname, “Atleti”, woven into the fabric in an electrifying all-over matte/shine pattern.
The ’90s Nike Futura logo and club crest complement the shirt, while a dark blue trim on the collar and sleeves perfectly frames it.
“Everybody knows about the moments of success for our club during that era,” says midfielder Saúl Ñiguez. “The fans will enjoy this colour being brought back. It’s nice to see how the design gives it that ’90s feel.”
Light blue shorts and socks complete the kit, both also featuring the retro Nike logo.
Atletico Madrid Home Kit for the 2019/20 season
This season’s home shirt has taken a more traditional sharper look, with the classic red and white striped look which takes influence from the it that the club wore when they won the Europa League in 2010.
On the inside of the shirt, the year of the club’s foundation is displayed – 1903 – along with a trident of Neptune, which symbolises the club’s bond with the city of Madrid and the famous fountain used to celebrate their titles. At the back of the neck, the Spanish flag is displayed showing the patriotic side of the La Liga teams.
Blue shorts and red socks complete the home kit for the 2019/20 season.
Atletico Madrid Away Kit for the 2019/20 season
Atletico Madrid’s away kit is black from top to bottom. lit by dazzling fierce-looking bright red details, representing the club’s amazing performances in the past decade.
The black colour is predominantly with the sponsors, Nike Swoosh, club crest and the trim on the sleeves are all bright red. A streak of red appears on the reverse of the collar, while a Spanish flag inside the shirt adds a dose of national pride. The same red detailing appears on the shorts and socks, which incorporate the word “Atletico” midway up the shin.
