After splitting opinion right down the middle with the new Barcelona home kit yesterday, we’re sure Nike are going to win a few hearts over with the awesome new Barcelona Away Kit 2011-12.
Starting with the colour – it’s black! And boy, we think it really looks the part. With simple gold branding from Nike and new sponsors the Qatar foundation, coupled with the gold trim to the Barca crest and gold numbers, we think this is a cracking new kit.
One of the things we love most about the new Barcelona Away Kit 2011-12 is the contrast of how simple it is to the home kit. Whilst Nike have over-complicated the famous Blaugrana jersey (how do you complicate stripes, for crying out loud!?), there’s no frills on this new kit.
We’re also huge fans of the over-lapping collar; which adds a nice stylistic touch to stop the new Barcelona Away Kit 2011-12 from becoming too boring!
As for the technical side of things, Nike’s flagship features like Dri-Fit and laser-cut vents make their usual appearance here, and the Considered Design initiative is still going strong, with the shorts now also being spun out of recycles plastic bottles from landfill sites, making the 2011-12 range of Nike kits their most eco-friendly yet.
Nike have also lined up a full range of awesome PR shots to promote the new Barcelona Away Kit 2011-12, and we couldn’t help but notice a brand new Superfly III on Pedro’s feet in this shot, (looking remarkably similar to the Elite series from last summer!) as well as the Template for the new Nike top-level footballs, succeeding the universally-loved Tracer!
