Manchester United Winger Nani has been ruled out of this Summer’s FIFA World Cup.
The Portugal wide-man sustained a shoulder injury whilst training with the National Team last week.
Unfortunately, for Nani – real name Luís Carlos Almeida da Cunha – he hasn’t recovered from this blow and coach Carlos Queiroz has been forced to withdraw him from the squad.
“After tests we conclude he is unfit to participate in the World Cup,” read a statement from the PFF.
“The medical file will now be presented to the medical department of Manchester United.
“In light of the report, the Portuguese Football Federation, taking into account the Fifa regulations for the 2010 World Cup, will call-up Ruben Amorim as a replacement.”
Replacement Amorim played 38 games for Benfica last season, scoring 4 goals in the process.
