Injury prone defender Ledley King is facing another long lay off after tearing a hamstring in Spurs’ 1 – 1 draw with Portsmouth at White Hart Lane.
The centre half, who has already missed 9 Premier League matches this season with other injuries, left the field before half time. He was the second Tottenham player not to last the first half as striker Roman Pavlyuchenko had already limped out of the game with an ankle injury just before the half hour mark.
With goalkeeper Heurello Gomes also carrying a groin injury in to the match and fitness concerns surrounding Aaron Lennon and Vedran Corluka, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp said:
At half-time it was like the walking wounded. We showed great character.
Ledley King has a torn hamstring and is going to be out long term.
The goalkeeper was struggling from the start, but I had to play him because he’s the best I have got.
