Mizuno are set to kick off 2015 in a big way – and one of their first salvos for the new year comes in the form of the Mizuno Wave Ignitus III – White / Black / Fiesta Red.
Now, we all know that the Mizuno Wave Ignitus III is a technical beast, with panels and strikezones galore – and we happen to think it looks pretty fresh in this latest update.
The Mizuno Wave Ignitus III – White / Black / Fiesta Red uses a white base – something we don’t see all that often on Mizuno’s Power/Accuracy silo, resulting in a pretty clean look.
The branding and key technologies look deadlier than ever in Black and Red, also making the Mizuno Wave Ignitus III – White / Black / Fiesta Red a great match for a number of club kits.
Indeed, sharp-eyed fans might have noticed Maya Yoshida of Southampton donning this new colourway over the last three weeks, proving them the perfect match for the Saints’ home strip.
If you’re after the road less travelled when it comes to football boots, you could certainly do a lot worse than the Wave Ignitus III – if you haven’t been keeping up with this particular boot’s development.
The third instalment of the Wave Ignitus range since it’s debut in 2010, the III’s modus operandi is to give dead-ball experts a number of strikezones and technologies to enhance their techniques.
Mukaiten, Tatekaiten and Yokokaiten – that’s no-spin, top-spin and side-spin, respectively – are all styles of free-kicks that Mizuno have identified as increasingly popular with set-piece marksmen like lead endorsee Keisuke Honda.
By placing the fins around the forefoot of the boot in the areas that make most contact with the ball during striking, Mizuno say the Ignitus will help players style out the strikes that they’re after with more power and accuracy than any other boot.
