Mizuno dish out a fresh look for their speed silo, the Basara 001 MD.
When we reviewed this football boot at launch last year, we were really impressed; It was comfortable, versatile, light and Mizuno never let you down on the quality stakes.
Overall we feel that this boot holds its own against any of its competition, so we’re delighted that it has not been forgotten about and now had a new colourway.
The Basara, Japanese for ‘Stylish’ or ‘Over-the-Top’, weighs in under the lightweight benchmark of 200g.
It’s equipped with a unique stud configuration, 9 front – 4 back which is at the top end, offering plenty of contact with the turf.
The plate is very flexible due to the D-Flex grooves, you can bend and twist your foot with relative ease, but only in the directions your foot bends. The R-Fibre insert in the upper (seen in that little ‘window’ below the collar) also helps reduce excess stretching, by adsorbing some of the force created by the foot on the upper to lock the foot in place when turning and sprinting.
The Primeskin upper is incredibly soft to the touch, the heel counter is supportive without creating hot spots and and the lacing system is one of the deepest you’ll find on any football boot around at the moment, making for a completely bespoke and tight fit.
When we reviewed this boot last year, we said Mizuno had played a blinder. They did.
