Manchester United look set to challenge Patrice Evra’s 4 match ban after asking the FA for a transcript of his disciplinary hearing.
The United defender was banned and fined £15,000 after he was found guilty of improper conduct following a post match bust up with ground staff at Chelsea last April.
The ban is due to start 3 days before Christmas which means the Frenchman will miss United’s league games against Stoke and Middlesbrough, the FA Cup third-round tie against Southampton and the Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Derby. Coincidentally, his first game back would be against Chelsea who visit Old Trafford on 11th January.
Speaking to MUTV, manager Sir Alex Ferguson said:
It’s a terrible black mark against the FA.
Can you believe we are still waiting for the official confirmation of it? We have asked for the transcript. They have been doing that report to make sure it is 100% watertight.
A lot of people have been ringing about it because it is the most incredible decision in my time at this club.
The FA has done many things but this is absolutely beyond me.
