The Chelsea defender reclaims the skipper’s armband against the United States tomorrow.
John Terry was made England captain by Steve McClaren, taking over from David Beckham in the summer of 2006 after the World Cup in Germany. On arrival as head coach, Fabio Capello decided that he wanted to trial different skipper’s, before making his long term choice in August when England face the Czech Republic in their final friendly before the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
Fabio Capello:
I told him he’ll be the captain and he was very, very happy. It’s very important to be a leader and John Terry’s a leader.
