There has been a little bit of confusion among the global press these past couple of days.
You see, adidas said they were holding the f50 adiZero launch on the 11th of May. Okay. And it’s in Spain. Fair enough, makes sense – the Champions League Final is coming up in Madrid, and key f50 wearer Lionel Messi plays in Barcelona.
But then the exact location was revealed: F1 Circuit de Catalunya – which this past weekend had hosted the Spanish Grand Prix.
Surely there must have been some mistake!?
Alas, all confusion was cleared up when the gathered press saw these:
Two Formula cars painted in the launch colourways of the new adidas f50 adizero football boots!
Clearly adidas going all out on this one! The creative genius that is the adidas PR department had decided that the best comparison to it’s Super-light (and thus Super-Fast) f50 adiZero design was that of a Formula Racing Car!
Now, some companies would also be quite content with having custom race-cars bombing around in exotic locations: however adidas do have a few rather famous names on their books…
Valencia and Spain striker David Villa and Barcelona and Argentina’s Lionel Messi were conveniently on hand to help launch their new football boots!
It was here that the gathered press were told the reasoning behind the seperate colourways: The Black/Sun Yellow would be worn by all the key f50 players over this Summer’s FIFA World Cup, and David Villa was there to represent them. Messi, however, was to be the exception to the rule, wearing a striking metallic Chameleon Purple/White/Electricity adiZero model for Football’s biggest tournament.
Interestingly, both players were debuting the not only the new boots – but the previously unseen TRXTF Astroturf/futsal versions of the f50 adiZero – as well as some snazzy outfits from the training apparel range!
Because it’s summer,we know that the ground’s either gone really hard, or the regular season is over and you’re switching to 5-a-side or Futsal, we thought you might be interested in a closer look at Messi’s footwear in that above picture!
Zoom and enhance! (Yeah, CSI’s got nothing on Footy-Boots.com!)
Both players stayed to talk about the release of the football boot, their thoughts on how the adidas f50 adiZero performs and how much they were looking forward to wearing them over the coming Summer!
Also premiered was the new Viral ad for the adiZero range, which we featured upon it’s launch!

the black and yellow one reminds me the f60.9 first colorway
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME… its time to love adidas again…
Question: Are the TRX TF versions they are wearing the F10 Adizero (available to us mortals) or some souped up F50 version of it?
I would assume they are wearing the F10’s, Perry.
It is just my opinion but I think that if adidas only needed them to wear them for a couple of days, then they wouldn’t really feel the need to make up some souped up turf/indoor shoes.
Only needed Villa and Messi to wear them is what I meant.
Cheers Aussie Lad thats what I thought.
I play centre back for my Saturday 11 a side team so wear Lasers SG and Copa Mundials FG. However for my 5-a-side teams I play up front so I prefer a lighter boot and have recently bought the new Mercurial Glide TF. So far not really enjoying it but I will perservere! Now ive seen the TRX TF versions of the Adizero I really might want to try these when they come out, especially if they are considerably lighter 🙂
love how the messi colorway changes colors!!!
