Keisuke Honda’s dipping free-kick against Denmark has done more than see Japan to the last 16 of the World Cup – it’s started a Football Boots Craze!

Kazuhiro Kimura, spokesman for Mizuno has reported that the Wave Ignitus are stripping previous expectations in Japan after the number 18'  glided a Mukaiten free-kick into Tomas Sorensen’s top corner.

In fact, Mizuno set a 6-month target of 50,000 pairs for the Wave Ignitus, but World Cup fever has sent football boots sales soaring past the 70,000 mark!

The boost in popularity isn’t just limited to football boots either, bars and clubs have become packed as fans look to get behind the Samurai Blue, even though the games are shown at some fairly unsociable hours in Japan!

As the square off against Paraguay on Tuesday, Mizuno will also be watching clearly as their ‘Western’ Posterboy Roque Santa Cruz will face off against their Far-Eastern hero Honda in a Wave Ignitus duel to see who will carry their most prized football boot into the quarter final!

    i would be one of the people who had bought a pair because the boots are great and mizuno have shown that the mukaiten panel isnt just a gimmick like nike flywire (think about it, what does it REALLY do?) but i just cant get past the colour enough to make me buy them, ive seen a white colourway though 🙂

    I have the boots and they are great. They are light, comfy and a lot of tech! However mukaiten needs a LOT of practise. I’ve seen the white ones but still prefer my yellow ones.

    Japan has lost the game against Paraguay as i write this comment.
    but man… Keisuke Honda’s wave ignitus really goes out with a bang. the replay of that freekick are played over and over again, showing its bright yellow color and a huge mizuno insignia on its side.

    me? i’m still waiting for the white colorway 🙂 it might not as catchy as the yellow one, but it show a little bit more class without reducing any “badass” effect from the bio vamps.

    Anyone know anywhere that stocks these boots ? I love the look of them but i want to try some on before buying, i live near wolverhampton and cant find anywhere that stocks any mizuno boots.

    Dam, I’m only getting mine at the end of the year (when I go overseas)!!!! Until then I’m sticking to my R10s buit man I actually cannot wait to get a pair!!!! flip so hot and pure class!!
