Higuita’s Scorpion Kick Recreated for 20th Anniversary

Rene Higuita Scorpion Kick

Rene Higuita recreates the infamous Scorpion Kick on it’s 20th anniversary.

On the 20th anniversary of the memorable scorpion kick, Rene Higuita recreates the trick, but this time over a swimming pool not in goal for Colombia against England at Wembley!

In the game that was drawn 0-0, Higuita famously saved a Jamie Redknapp shot with the acrobatic kick on his own goal-line, although the linesman had flagged for offside.

The incident happened at Wembley Stadium on 6 September 1995, as England were preparing for Euro ’96, but now Higuita has recreated the iconic trick that won Best Football Trick Ever.

In the video below, Higuita recreates the Scorpion Kick, but then sets a Scorpion Challenge. Higuita calls out Colombians David Ospina (Arsenal), James Rodriguez (Real Madrid) and Radamel Falcao (Chelsea) to do the Scorpion Trick and then select three of their own friends to do the challenge.
