GRANT GOES FOR DOUBLE

chelseaAvram Grant has his attention focused on the Premier League and Champions League double.

Chelsea are 2-1 down to Fenerbahce with their home game to play and are currently 2nd in the Premier League with five games to play, but they are eyeing the double, according to their manager Avram Grant.

It goes without saying that Chelsea head into this evenings 2nd leg, hoping they can avoid conceding, as they need to claw back from a 2-1 defeat they suffered last week in Istanbul.

Looking at the form of the two sides thus far in the competition, its certainly conceivable that Chelsea can progress to the semi final. The Turkish side have only three clean sheets away from home, in sixteen games they have played in the Champions League. Meanwhile Chelsea have not lost at home in their last 10 European matches, keeping clean sheets in the last three games.

Avram Grant:

Avram Grant It is a big opportunity to do it, we’ve spoken with the players and we know that it will not be easy.

All this season has been very hard, with many difficulties, but having got to this stage, we want to do our best to use this opportunity.

We lost the opening game even though we were much better than Fenerbahce but the players want, like everyone at the club, to be in the semi-final.

The first match was one of our good performances with the worst result.

I won’t be telling you any secrets if I say that everyone at Chelsea is very happy at our situation in the league now, especially given where we were a few months ago.

Nobody thought we would be in this situation in the league but the priority now is to beat Fenerbahce because we lost when we were much better than them last week. I don’t know if the players owe me or not but they want very much to be in the semifinal.
