Liverpool have emerged as the favourites to sign England full back Glen Johnson.
The Merseyside club have had a bid of around £17 million accepted by Portsmouth as Liverpool look to make their first major signing of the summer.
Chelsea and Manchester City were also reported to be interested in the 24 year old but it’s understood that Anfield is where Johnson wants to play next season.
Johnson joined Pompey from Chelsea for £4 million two years ago.
In other transfer news, Emanuel Eboue says he could be about to leave Arsenal as he’s unhappy at the Emirates.
The 26 year old Ivory Coast international struggled for regular first team football last term and in one match, was even booed by his own supporters.
And on the managerial front, Tony Mowbray has been confirmed as the new boss of Celtic.
The former Scottish champions are to pay West Brom £2 million in compensation.
