Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard have both been confirmed available for Tuesday nights Champions League all English tie.
The pair of England internationals have both missed games recently, Gerrard due to a neck injury and Lampard was attending his mother who has been ill.
Lampard missed the last two Chelsea games as he was with his mother who has been taken ill with pneumonia. Gerrard missed the weekend win against Fulham with a neck injury.
Lampard’s agent has confirmed that his mother has stabilised and he is available for selection, whilst Benitez has confirmed the Liverpool captain’s availability after he trained today.
Liverpool play hosts to Chelsea at Anfield on Tuesday night for the first leg of their semi-final meeting as the two domestic rivals prepare to make it through to the Champions League final.
Avram Grant:
I must say I respect very much Frank and what he is doing for the club this week.
It is not an easy situation, you know the situation he is in and I don’t want to talk about it anymore.
But he has given everything for the club, he has trained by himself and I have given him the freedom to do as he feels because there are things that are sometimes more important than football and he came and trained and is available to play.
