Introducing Kevin Keegan
KK was officially unveiled at Tyneside this afternoon, for the third time in his career, and he didn’t disappoint. KK ?
“If there is a role that Alan wants, then I would love to have him back here.” Centre forward out of the question KK?
“Joey Barton has got my full support.” He needs it.
“Michael Owen is entitled to his own opinion, he has a future at the club.” As boot boy.
“A football match at the weekend for the Geordie’s is like Southerners going to the theatre.” An expensive evening, sitting in uncomfortable seats and being disappointed with the quality on show?
Other than that, KK was relaxed, enthused and claims to have plenty of finances available to maybe land two or three players before the end of the transfer window.
African Cup of Nations
The African Nations kick off on Sunday. Each time this cup takes place, it becomes more and more interesting. This time round is no exception with some top quality on display. Eto’o, Drogba, Essien, Toure….. and Eboue is there too.
The hosts, Ghana, kick matters off when they meet Guinea on Sunday. The first of 32 fixtures amongst 16 teams.
The top game of the early stages is between Nigeria and the Ivory Coast. Dubbed the ‘group of death’ these two sides also see Mali in the mix for two qualifying spots in the knockout rounds.
The Elephants, also known as the Ivory Coast, are littered with stars Arsenal’s Kolo Toure, Chelsea’s Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou and Seville’s Arouna Kone. They will be fighting it out in Group B.
Nigeria also boast a wealth of talent in Portsmouth’s Nwankwo Kanu and John Utaka, Newcastle’s Obafemi Martins, Everton’s Yakubu, Chelsea’s Jon Obi Mikel and Sunderland’s Dickson Etuhu. On the downside, they are managed by Berti Vogts, but hey, with a squad like that……
The action starts at Sunday – 1700 GMT, BBCi. With the Nigeria v Ivory Coast, 1700 GMT, BBCi. Both games are also shown on Eurosport.

If I shine, if a really big club wants me, I know already that everything will go well. My choice could shock people but I know the Portsmouth manager. I know he is going to play me.” The new fans will love you Lassana!
