Transfer News

Chelsea Capture ‘Le Sulk’

So the happy soul that is Nicolas Anelka has moved yet again, this time to Chelsea for £15 million. ‘Le Sulk’s’ agent Doug Pinoso said “He’s waited years for an opportunity like this,” We wonder what Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Paris St-Germain and FenerbahÄ‚§e think of that. The transfer means ‘Le Sulk’ has cost football clubs a total of £86 million, a world record. We forecast a ‘Le Sulk’ badge kissing goal celebration by February and a smile, well a smirk by 2010. link

Cementing Manchester City as the most multi cultural club in the Premiership, Sven Goran Eriksson has signed Iraq midfielder Nashat Akram. Akram said “The financial terms are good although I don’t prefer to talk in such matters.” Why say anything Nashat? link

Staying

Manchester City‘s German midfielder Didi Hamann will be at Maine Road for at least another season, after signing a new one-year contract. link

Gilberto Silva will stay at Arsenal and fight for his place in the team. Despite playing second fiddle this season, the World Cup winner has vowed to fight on to regain a regular shirt. link

Going

Unlike Gilberto, Arsenal team-mate Lassana Diarra looks like he is on his way. He asked Wenger not to select him for the Carling Cup semi final with Spurs, because his mind was not on the game. But, he wants to leave due to lack of games, like he did at Chelsea. So Diarra you complain due to lack of games, then you turn down a chance to play in a semi final, against your clubs arch rivals. Nice going….. link

After losing his place this week, Paul Robinson will be even happier to hear that Spurs are targeting Dutch keeper Maarten Stekelenburg. link If Robinson is shoved out, who would have him? Sven….?

Managers

Talking of former International managers, Jurgen Klinsmann will take over as coach of Bayern Munich next season. Having spent the last two years living in California he may have picked up a few new tricks to bring back to Europe – one that he was renowned for, is still around – see the video

With all the management merry go rounds taking place, some out of work managers will be quietly fine tuning their CV’s. But not Steve McClaren, after ruining many an England fans summer, he’s back to his self elevating best. He says he is recharged and ready to go. Oh and he also mentioned that Newcastle are a massive club, that he lives in the North East, he knows what their fans expect, any guesses why McClaren is back in the press… Yawn. link

Our ‘Arry‘s on his way to the North East – but that’s because Portsmouth play Sunderland on Sunday. The latest is ‘Arry says that Newcastle have not been in touch with him about the £20 million job. Speculation was fuelled that he will accept the post, as left Portsmouths premises without giving his usual pre-match press conference. link

WAGs (wives and girlfriends)

Poor old Jermain Defoe, what a week he is having. He misses a sitter against Arsenal in a semi final wearing the most ridiculous haircut, then his manager tells him that he is not wanted at the club. As we reported yesterday, Jermain took his latest WAG house hunting, imagine when they get home and put their feet up in front of the box and Jermain is on the TV….. A Place in the Sun, where Jermain gives his ex WAG Charlotte Mears £2 million to buy a place for them together…. poor Jermain charlotte mears link
