Fenerbahce 2-1 Chelsea
Fenerbahce come from a goal down to beat Chelsea in Istanbul.
Fenerbahce staged a terrific comeback to shock Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final and come from a goal to win the first leg.
Chelsea took the lead when Deivid diverted Florent Malouda’s cross into his own net. Michael Essien nearly doubled their lead, he hit the crossbar in a one sided first half.
But the Turkish side levelled when London-born Colin Kazim-Richards fired home Mehmet Aurelio’s pass.
Deivid, villain for his own goal, then turned hero. He made amends for his early error to win the tie with a superb 30-yard strike into the top corner.
Normally it is a good result to lose 2-1 away but because we played the better football we are disappointed. We wanted to have the second leg at home – now we need to use it.
