Disgruntled Everton fans are masterminding a novel campaign, aimed at the club’s chairman.
Q: You think your football club are lacking players and have been overly quiet in the transfer market, so what do you do?
A: Bring your football boots to the next game of course!
That’s what Everton fans are planning for their Premier League opener against Blackburn Rovers at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Disappointed at losing key players over the summer, including Andy Johnson (Fulham, £10m), Lee Carsley (Birmingham, free), Stefan Wessels (VfL Osnabruck, free) without bringing any new blood in, Everton fans want to demonstrate to the chairman that they are not happy.
So fans attending the game are urged to dust down their old football boots, hange them by their laces over the necks and let Mr Kenwright know they are available should the club need them to play.
