Eternal Dark-Horses South Korea earned their reputation with a solid 2-0 win over an inconsistent Greek side.
The Korean Republic stared the game brightly after Lee Jung-Soo slipped his marker to side-foot a far-post free-kick off his Mizuno Morelia and into the back of the Greece net.
Korea could have gone 2-0 up before the break when Monaco’s Park Chu-yong slipped through the Greek back line, only to be thwarted by the outstretched leg of Greek stopper Alexandros Tzorvas.
After the break it was Greece‘s turn to shine, as they enjoyed a spell of good pressure – this was, however, to be short-lived as Korea broke fiercely on the counter – Manchester United’s Park Ji-Sung the man on the end of the move; sliding the ball between keeper and defender to put the match out of Greek reach.
