England Expects – Beckham Delivers…
This week was a successful one for the England football team, with a win over Estonia which at least won a reprieve for under-fire manager Steve McClaren. The game signalled the return of the England’s prodigal son David Beckham to the hearts and minds of supporters, after being vilified by the same supporters as being the reason for England’s poor performances last year! Beckham seems set to show his new football boots, the Adidas Predator Absolute DB when he joins LA Galaxy, although the question of his future involvement for England whilst in the States remains unconfirmed.
Micheal Owen Football Boots Top of the League
The game for us was more significant for returning striker Michael Owen, wearing the Umbro X Boot III football boots, as his goal takes him to top of the list of England goal-scorers in competitive games, over taking jug-eared silver fox Gary Lineker. England have a break until the next competitive match in September, but qualification is by no means is a certainty, as England are still only 4th in the table, so the champagne needs to remain corked for a little while longer!
UEFA European U-21 Championships Finals
Meanwhile the England U21 team had a good week, spanking Slovakia 5-0 and also beating them in the pre-arranged penalty shoot-out, to go into next week’s UEFA U-21 Championship in Holland as one of the favourites. The England U21 team have great young talent and strength in depth in the squad, and the strike force especially looks amongst the best around with pace, finishing and goals galore! The schedule of 3 games in 6 days looks daunting, but the young lions should progress into the latter stages and have a genuine chance of reaching the final on 23rd June.
