David Beckham says he wants to stay at AC Milan rather than return to LA Galaxy when his loan spell expires next month.
Beckham played for the Italian side in a friendly against Rangers on Wednesday and his mere presence in the team saw the Glasgow giants sell live TV rights for the game to 10 countries.
Speaking after the match, Beckham said:
I have expressed my desire to stay. Now it’s just down to Milan and Galaxy to come to an agreement.
I have enjoyed my time here. I knew I would enjoy it but I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I have.
His loan spell is due to end on 9th March.
However his American employers are remaining tight lipped about any possible deal. Spokesman Patrick Donnelly said on Wednesday:
We have no comment to make.
I think this is good and bad.G ood because it means Beckham is happy not receiving the rediculous wages the American’s are paying him, even thought it is highly likley that there is another big money deal brewing if he were to sign with AC. I am also happy that his career is still alive and well, after many thinking LA Galaxy would be the end for golden balls. The revenue accumulated by Beckham is somthing i don’t like, but, what control does he have over it? Great player. Humble man. All the best to him.
i totally agree with you i think it will be better for becks to stay with milan for his fitness but it will hurt the mls alot by not having him there but there is always ljunberg
As a young American football player I want the MLS to grow as much as possible. I think having beckham in the U.S would be a tremendous step into making footbal(the real football) much more popular. But I do think its best for him to stay with AC milan, playing at that level of play at that age is not an easy thing to do. So when you come across a great player that can do so why bring his career to an end so soon? If beckham does return to the galaxy in march i think he’ll do so respectfully.
