Copa America Semi-Final Teams

The Copa América Reaches Its Final Stages

The line-up for the Copa América 2007 semi-finals has been confirmed after four quarter-final matches that produced a whopping 22 goals! The pick of the games saw Argentina dispatch Peru 4-0 with goals from Adidas football boot wearers Juan Roman Riquelme and Lionel Messi and Liverpool’s Javier Mascherano, wearing Nike Total 90 Laser football boots. The win firmly cements Argentina’s progression to the semis and clearly justifies their position as tournament favourites.

Nike MVIII ZincIn other matches, Uruguay overcame Venezuela 4-1, with two goals from ex-Manchester United favourite Diego Forlan (Adidas F50.7 Tunit football boots), and Mexico demolished Paraguay 6-0. The main challengers for the tournament title Brazil, crushed (geddit?) Chile 6-1 in a performance that sees a return to form for the Samba loving players after a shaky start. Real Madrid striker Robinho wearing the distinctive Nike Mercurial Vapor III in zinc colourway, grabbed two goals, securing his place as the leading goal-scorer and taking him to within 2 goals of Pele’s record of 8 goals which the great man scored in the 1959 Copa tournament.

The semi finals, to be played over the 10-11th July see Uruguay vs Brazil and Argentina vs Mexico. Brazil and Argentina look favourites to meet in the final, where the world will be watching the stars while we watch the football boots!
