It’s always good to see some of the biggest companies in the world using this year’s World Cup for a more noble cause.
As one of the official sponsors of the World Cup Coca-cola has teamed up with FIFA for a hugely ambitious charitable cause.
Every time a player in the 2010 FIFA World Cup celebrates a goal, Coca-Cola will donate $1,500 to provide clean water in schools across Africa.
Not only that, but on the FIFA Website, you can vote for the best goal celebration; ‘What’s so special about that?’ I hear you cry?
Well, the winner will receive the award and Coca-Cola will donate an additional $50,000 (on the winner’s behalf) to their Water for Schools program!
So, no matter which player wins the overall contest, Schools across Africa will all benefit!
During the 2010 FIFA World Cup so far, 101 goals have been scored, raising $151,500 to fund the Water for Schools initiative in Africa. The “Water for Schools” program is just one part of a $30 million legacy by Coca-Cola to provide at least 2 million people in Africa with clean water and improved sanitation by 2015!
